Finally redid the walk cycle. I swear walking is harder to animate than running.

I'll be using this as a base to create any character later on.

How do you edit these? I've started to look into animation and I really want to start with a simple base, something like this just to teach myself. What program do you use?

I just kinda threw a puppet together in Flash and animated it with shape and motion tweens.  Though it is easier to sketch out something rough first before you go straight into animating it, in the end it'll save you tons of time.  Check out Zachary Rich on Youtube for some really cool tutorials on puppet animation in Flash if that's something you want to do.

What program do you use to edit and skin these? Im looking to start working with flash files in the near future, but want to start off with something easy to use, or with a straight forward interface just till i get the hang of things. Also cute as well as the trotting one. ^_^

Walk cycles are really hard to draw, but you've managed it perfectly here! One of the smoothest animations I've seen in a long time.

Thank you ^_^

I had a LOT of help in terms of references and all, funny how 1 second of animation can take such a long time to do =P

Nicely done! You have the forelegs in the contact position when the hind legs are in the passing position, and the timing of both sets of legs is offset just slightly. Excellent work! The only minor thing I would do is adjust the speed of the animation just a little bit. Did you animate on 1's or 2's?

Thank you so much! And I can tell you're quite knowledgeable on the topic :) this cycle was animated on 1s. Though I only actually sketched my 4 key frames (contact + passing for front and back legs) the rest was shape/motion tweened in Flash

Wow! You only sketched 4 key frames AND you got the up and down in the walk cycle, AND the subtle head bob?! You even illustrated the pony's weight on the hooves as they flatten under pressure at key moments!
Gold star for you! :iconcheerileeplz:

And thank you! :) I'm currently majoring in Computer Animation. I haven't done much digital animation yet, mostly traditional. I'm slowly learning how to use Flash Professional CS6 in my free time.
